Do you accept OHIP or insurance coverage?

Psychological services are not covered by OHIP, but are often partially or fully covered by private insurance plans. Clients with such insurance policies may be able to be reimbursed by their insurance plan for the cost of their services. Clients are responsible for checking and understanding their own insurance coverage. Payment is due at the end of each session. After payment is made, Metta Psychological Services will provide you with a receipt that can be used to claim the cost of your session, if you have private insurance. We do not offer direct billing and clients are responsible for pursuing reimbursement of their services through any applicable insurance plan they may have. However, if your insurance company requires additional documentation from us for you to obtain reimbursement for services then please speak to us about this. Similarly, if your insurance company requires your provider to become "credentialled" with them then please speak to us about this. Psychological services are also tax deductible as a medical expense.

How do I book an appointment?

Clients can self-refer to our clinic, though referrals are also accepted from other healthcare professionals. You can book an initial consultation by phone at 647-617-0811 or via the contact form on the bottom of our page.

Do you offer in-person services or virtual services?

We are currently offering both in-person and virtual appointment options. In-person appointments are only available in Toronto. Virtual services are available for individuals residing in Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Do you offer services for children or adolescents?

Metta Psychological Services offers services to adults with mental health concerns. We are unable to accept referrals for children or adolescents under the age of eighteen.

Will I have homework in between sessions?

All of the therapy approaches offered through Metta Psychological Services emphasize completing specific homework tasks outside of session and consistently practicing skills that have been learned in therapy. Ultimately, much of the change that occurs through therapy happens through practicing skills outside of your therapy sessions.

What if I need immediate help for a mental health emergency?

If you experience a mental health emergency during the course of your treatment you should go to the nearest emergency room. You can also contact a crisis line, such as the Gurstein Centre (416-929-5200), which offers 24/7 telephone support for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
